Belgian Beat:
Game one saw both Hatt and Phillips dominating to start the game. It was looking like an extra inning marathon may be in the works until Phillips lost his command in the fourth inning and struggled to find the zone. He walked two runs in, then gave way to Corbett to get the Wiffles out of the jam. That did not happen. Corbett allowed all three inherited runners to cross the plate, as well as one more of his own, and there was nothing the Belgian offense could do against Hatt to close the gap.

Belgian jumped out to an early lead in game two on an RBI single by Buhr, scoring Phillips, against Bortmas. Castle held the lead until the third inning, when Bortmas got his revenge... and then some. He hit a solo home run to lead off the inning, then followed it up with a grand slam two at-bats later. After a shaky start on Thursday and the first inning run, Bortmas returned to form and shut down the Belgian offense for the rest of the game to finish off the series with an exclamation point.
