Photos of the action on a hot Saturday at the Drey

A scorcher in Death Valley. Five scorchers actually, but at least there was wind to keep the temperature tolerable. However, that wind did void the "small ball" part of the Drey's slogan. The Squirrels' home field had its home run cherry popped, and in fact blown up! Joey DeLano and Nick Snow of the DeLoppes combined for more than a handful of bombs and were setting all sorts of distance records in the second game of the day. Carl Coffee and Brandon Corbett made sure the Squirrels were represented in the home run parade during the fourth game of the day. There were lots of extra base hits and the base paths were indistinguishable from a carousel at times. Although there was some great pitching shown off, as well. Southpaw Cliff Comstock featured great movement and kept hitters off balance most of the day, before pitching four games in the heat started to catch up with him. Austin Bischoff of the Whiteford Wiffleball Association joined the Squirrels roster for the day and pitched two absolute gems! Seemingly unaffected, or at least undeterred, by the wind he had outstanding movement, good velocity, and lethal accuracy on his pitches. The day's results did not end up changing any of the places; the DeLoppes, Warriors, and Squirrels remaining in second, third, and fourth respectively. Though, the Squirrels are finally back to .500 on the season, and the match up between them and the Warriors coming up the last week of the season is shaping up to be a beauty. The DeLoppes three wins also assure them of at least a second place finish in the WSEM regular season.
