Line on the Series: Series Result: KF sweep, IS sweep, split
Preview: King Friday had a rough go in Satty 2 when Castle wasn't on the mound, but don't expect play like that carry over into the season. Only two of those players - Castle and Milanovich - made it on the final roster, which is split 3-3 between rookies and WSEM veterans. The number two pitcher issue has been solved with the addition of Mike Constanti (1-0 on opening night), who is likely to start game 1. Castle looks to be the big bat in the lineup for now. There are two key storylines to this series for Friday. 1) Seeing how well the rookies take to the game, and 2) seeing how far this Friday team is from what it was a month ago.
Beat Report: Yarrr!!!! A series SPLIT - 1 Win for The Islanders & 1 Win for King Friday!!
Ahoy! It was a blusterin' openin' day as th' me Islanders hosted th' Kin's 'o Friday. th' first battle was a mystery 'o epic proportions. me best bucko, William Mundel, was th' favorite to pr'vail as he took to th' mound vs a Marauder Mike Constanti. After our first at-bat it looked jolly fer me Islanders too: Newcomer Pete Benedeto hit a towerin' lead-off home run to left. But call it the seven seas or call it fate, Mundel did not have his usual stuff. After 4 innin's 'o merciless poundin' 'o his pitches, me Islanders were mercy'd 15-1.
But remember: revenge be sweet as blood! In th' battle 2 that me buckos were expected to lose, barnacle-covered cap'n Linebrink was able to hold them pesky Fridays to 3 runs (while me buckos scored 4) to win th' battle 'o wits. 'n so we split th' lovely booty on Openin' nightfall at th' Island.
If ye be still listenin', listen to 'tis: me bucko Mundel won't be so nice next the hour. harrharr!
